Ruby Engagement Rings
Ruby and sapphire are the same mineral, corundum. The red one is called a ruby, everything else a sapphire. That means a ruby shares the sapphire's hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale and is just as suited to a ring that is worn every day.
Colour is where rubies separate: from a light raspberry to a deep, slightly blueish red. You choose the stone size, the setting and the metal here and see the ring before it is made.

Choosing a ruby
A saturated, even red does more for a ruby than size does. Under warm lamplight the colour deepens and under daylight it lifts, so look at a stone in both before you settle on it. Small inclusions are normal in rubies and do not affect how the stone wears.
Yellow gold sits closest to the red and makes the whole ring read warm. White gold and platinum create a sharper contrast and make the stone stand out rather than blend in. A ring of small diamonds around the ruby adds the sparkle the stone itself does not produce.
Made to order
Every ring is made to order in a German goldsmith's workshop and the stone is set by hand. The engraving on the inside is free, delivery is free, and a certificate for the stone comes with the order.
