White Gold Engagement Rings
White gold is the most common metal for engagement rings because it keeps a white diamond looking white. There is no warm colour reflected back into the stone, so the contrast between band and stone stays clean.
It is a gold alloy, not a metal in its own right: gold mixed with palladium or silver and then plated with rhodium for the bright finish. You choose the fineness, the stone and the setting here.

What to expect from white gold
The rhodium plating wears over the years, most visibly on the underside of the band where it meets other surfaces. When it does, the slightly warmer alloy underneath shows through, and the ring can be re-plated to bring the bright finish back. That is normal for the metal rather than a defect.
18 carat is softer and richer in gold; 14 carat is harder and stands up better to daily wear. If the ring will be worn alongside a wedding band, matching the fineness of the two keeps them from wearing into each other.

Every ring is made to order in a German goldsmith's workshop and the stones are set by hand. The engraving on the inside is free and delivery is free.
